In actuality, that means that another team bites the dust on The Amazing Race 7. This time it was Ray and Deana. As we watched the double episode last night, we were left with some thoughts.
One – Meredith and Gretchen are tough. After Gretchen fell, I thought that they were surely out of it, but they have persevered nicely, even moving up two places from the very bottom. Very impressive effort.
Two – Kudos to Brian and Greg. Not only did they feel stupid for wrecking their vehicle, they felt badly for the cameraman, they said what seemed to be a genuine prayer and they came back to avoid elimination. I’d put them solidly as my favorite to win it all.
Three – Rob and Amber are incredibly entertaining. Okay, Rob is entertaining. Amber is too quiet, though she does seem to share some of Rob’s attitude at times. And yes, Rob is a jackass, and can certainly get annoying, but just like the episodes of Survivor with him, it’s a much better show because he’s in it. Not to mention the way that they consistently move towards the top.
Four – Anyone notice on the team page that all of the eliminated teams thus far share the same background? It’s a shot of an island or peninsula or something, with some water directly behind the teams.
Hmm. Wonder if that tells us anything about the rest of the race? For the record, Brian and Greg, Meredith and Gretchen and Ron and Kelly also share a background (green land followed by mountains, some sky in the picture) and so do Lynn and Alex, Rob and Amber and Uchenna and Joyce (sort of a cloudy sunrise/sunset). If I had to pick, I’d go with the last group to be the final three.
1) They are tough cookies. They’re the toughest old people I’ve seen in any reality TV series in recent memory.
2) Those guys are great. Generally good natured, athletic, intelligent, and hard-working, I definitely think they’ll go far.
3) I could do without Boston Rob. He’s not even from Boston, technically he’s from Canton, which is only a little bit closer to Boston than we’re located. But I digress. Their “celebrity” status has definitely come in handy on the race… I think there are a few key situations where they could have gotten snuffed were it not for one of their fans lending assistance.
4) I love your crazy Amazing Race Website conspiracy theories. We’ll just have to keep an eye out for next week to see if the changes are consistent.
Yup, tough team there with Meredith and Gretchen. Kinda glad to see roid-boy Ray get bumped – he was a bit too intense/agressive for my watching pleasure (of course, no one holds a candle to that wacko Jonathan last season…).
As far as the “Romber” goes, he’s very entertaining. It’s as if he knows what makes good TV – some lying, cheating, conflict, and mugging for the camera. Like him or not, it’s fun to watch.
