Last night also saw a new episode of The Amazing Race. Perhaps the best line came from Boston Rob, saying that “the gloves are off”. Now he’s racing for real. Makes you wonder what he’s been doing thus far?
As I mentioned previously, he makes for great television. I wonder if he’s going to show up on The Apprentice after the race is over?
If it was on CBS, I’d bet the answer would be definitely. NBC? Probably not. In either case, I’m not sure if that sort of competition would really be suited to Rob – but it’d be fun to watch. Maybe if Amber dumps him, he’ll be on The Bachelor. That might be fun (though I don’t wish them relationship problems).
It was a shame to see the brothers Brian and Greg get sent home. It was also great to see them come in, dressed in their swimsuits and snow gear. It would have been most excellent if Phil had allowed them to continue racing. With the screwups of three other teams, I’m really surprised that they couldn’t catch up – but that’s the way the ball bounces sometimes.
Too bad that Brian and Greg were the last team to arrive in the prior episode, because last night’s was one of the rare ones where there was no chance for someone to catch up – waiting for someplace to open or waiting in an airport for a flight or something along those lines. In fact, I think it’s the first time in a while that we’ve seen such an episode. Usually there is some waiting. Last night didn’t appear to have any.
As to the Leaderboard Theory of Background Pictures: Brian and Greg have the “mountainous” background, shared by Meredith and Gretchen and Ron and Kelly. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if these were the next two teams out. With Ron and Kelly bickering like they are, their performance will likely only get worse. Meredith and Gretchen, even though they are hanging on, seem to be doing so only barely, and their number will come soon.
That would leave the “sunset” background, shared by Rob and Amber, Lynn and Alex, and Uchenna and Joyce. These three teams all seem to be doing well together, and on the race in general (though Uchenna did pull a boneheaded move last night by missing the post in the roadblock, causing them to have to go back and get it). It wouldn’t surprise me if this was the final grouping, and I would have to pick Rob and Amber to win it all.
