Shows: The Black Family

Was anyone else amused by the Black Family on the latest episode of The Amazing Race? For what it is worth, they seem like nice folks, but their kids are perhaps a bit too young to have really helped the family in the race. They did okay, but the parents had to carry them a bit much, likely why they were the first out. The other young kids seemed to nearly outdo their parents in many scenes.

Anyway, it all started when Phil was introducing the families and came to them, only to say... "The Black Family" while we see, well, a black family. It probably wouldn't have been as funny if there was another black family, but they were the only one. All non-caucasian teams with one white family, named, of course "The White Family" would be good too. Too bad that there aren't really many other associations like this with actual color names, or they could have Crayola sponsor the next season.

I digress. Every time you see this family, they get the little bar introducing them, where it says "Black Family", like it's a show on the Discovery Channel or something. Even the Amazing Race site now is a riot, reading "Black Family Out" as if it's a tabloid headline of the week or something. It's like a news bulletin. Did they really not notice what they were doing when the editor picked up this week's show to get it ready to air?
