This episode may be one of my favorites. A young (but still old-looking) Jack Klugman plays upstart pool shark Jesse Cardiff, who begs for just one game against dead pool legend “Fats” Brown, played by Jonathan Winters. He wants to beat the best.
Unfortunately, he finds that sometimes we get exactly what we most desire, and young Jesse not only gets the game that he so desires, but he wins it, and he takes over as the legend, then he gets to wait for the next challenger, and the next one and the next one. Meanwhile, “Fats” goes fishing.
