Dirty Jobs Recap: Termite Controller

Concrete Spreader. In some parts of the world (probably in many parts of the world), when you need to spread out a lot of concrete, you have to lay a foundation that is reasonably level, pour some concrete, and then some poor sap has to spread it out to make sure it is basically even. In this case, said sap is our intrepid host, Mike. Unfortunately, he isn't very good at it, so he has to (repeatedly) call for help. Otherwise he would ruin some perfectly good concrete. Over and over again.

Exterminator. We again see the crew from Vexcon Exterminators, and let me just say that if I had a pest control problem so severe that I was thinking of calling these guys, would someone please shoot me? Apparently they think you can jack up a building with some cinder blocks and a couple of car jacks, then replace a main support joist with what appears to be a 4x4 and no apparent securing of the board. Uh, okay.

Concrete Chipper. The spreading of the concrete at the apartment complex-to-be in the first segment was funny, with Mike once again holding up production, but it was the cleaning of the truck that had me rolling. First, you would never get me inside one of those trucks. I just wouldn't do it. So huge props to Mike for doing it. Second, if you did, I wouldn't fire up a jackhammer while I was there. Third, if somehow these first things happened, I wouldn't be there for ten seconds, let alone an hour and a half. But man, it makes for some great television.

If you need someone to do this for you, you could call Mike, or you too could try Jim's Chipping Service. They appear to be the same one featured in the episode, and they say they go anywhere in the country. But be warned: It can take three days. Per truck.

Mike? Let's not forget the anonymous camera operator(s) too. :-)
