Mythbusters Recap: Vodka Myths

Compact Compact. The myth that took up most of the time in this episode was not the title myth, and it is often described as the “pancake truck” myth, where it is rumored that these two trucks collided and between them sandwiched a compact car. So naturally it was up to the team to set up the largest collision ever on the show. Unfortunately setting up two large trucks in such a collision just isn’t easy, and adding a small car into the mix doesn’t make it any easier.

In the end, it just doesn’t look like two trucks can collide with such force to fuse themselves together, and certainly not with enough to effectively hide a car between them until the trucks happen to be pulled apart some time later. Still, it was entertaining to watch. Busted.

Vodka Myths: Foot Deodorizer. This myth tests to see if vodka can help with stinky feet (Adam’s in this case). Grant comes in and smells Adam’s feet before anything is applied (talk about your Dirty Jobs!). Then Kari mixes a commercial product in one bowl and a vodka cleaner in another and they wash Adam’s feet and Grant sniffs again. The result? The vodka does an admirable job. Confirmed.

Vodka Myths: Breath Freshener. The second test is to see if vodka can help with stinky breath (again Adam’s - see the theme?). In this case, Adam eats some Limburger cheese, garlic and smokes some cigarettes. Grant sniffs again, then Adam tries a commercial product. Adam reloads, then tries vodka, which has been sitting with some cinnamon for a short period of time. This time around, the vodka again worked quite well against the commercial product. But was it worth a two-week wait when you could have gone to the store for some instant relief? Probably not, but that wasn’t the test. Confirmed.
