In this episode we meet Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and are introduced briefly to her abilities. It seems she can speak with ghosts, those who have departed this world and haven’t yet made it to the next for one reason or another.
Our subject this time around is a soldier, who crashed in a helicopter in Vietnam in 1972 and hasn’t exactly realized that he is dead. He was brought back to the land of the living when he realized that his wife was having a baby. Only it’s not his wife, for she had her child 3 months after he died. It’s actually his son’s wife who is having a baby (thus the confusion). Melinda helps him work out the details, and helps his son come to terms with never knowing his father. Not a bad start to a fine series.
