Lost Recap: Orientation

On one part of the island, Jin, Michael and Sawyer are in a pit of some sort, covered with branches, while in the hatch, Jack, Kate and Locke have traded some bullets with Desmond and now the computer is fried. Desmond is nearly fried too, and frantically is assembling supplies to leave. As he does, he explains about a movie that tells them what they need to do, so Jack and Locke settle in to watch it.

We see flashbacks of Locke's life and his time spent with Helen (the wonderful Katey Sagal), who tries to break John of his attachment to his father, who betrayed him... for a kidney.

Unfortunately that river runs too deep, and instead of Helen, John sticks to his father, so Helen leaves him. In the meantime, they get Sayid to fix the computer and John watches the movie (and prepares to watch it again). In it, incidentally, we see the image of Alvar Hanso that is found on the Bio page of The Hanso Foundation web site, indicating that picture is quite out of date.

Sayid, naturally, fixes the computer just in time. Meanwhile things in the pit heat up as we meet Ana-Lucia, who pulls a nice move on Sawyer and takes his gun prior to leaving them alone in the pit. If all the women of The Others are this tough, then we're in for a rough ride.
