Windfall Recap: Money Changers
As the episode starts, we see Frankie get out of her cab, so we know she indeed wasn't the one who was shot (no surprise there). What is a surprise is that it was Sunny who was shot - Frankie's dad was in bed with someone else. Whoops. Since Sunny doesn't have any friends, and she sent her mom on a cruise, Nina invites her to stay at their new pad. Perhaps not the best idea, but it isn't too bad - until Sunny gets an extra-strong dose of Morphine, courtesy of the kids who are playing with her.
Sean and Tally return from their trip to Buffalo and Sean hires a private detective who tries to scam him out of some money by claiming that Zoe's credit card was used three days ago and he needs some money to check it out. When Sean tells Tally, she tells him that she cancelled the cards. Whoops. Maybe the PI is onto Sean's tactics. Sean goes to visit him, flies into a rage and punches a window. We later find out that a Russian is arrested for the break-ins all over town and has admitted to killing Zoe. I still think she took off on her own, but we'll see.
Meanwhile, Nina and Peter are having problems, as Peter tries to cover for his new lawyer-friend, who is obviously up to something, when it's discovered that their "fishing trip" wasn't all that it was claimed to be, and Nina doesn't like it, so she turns to Cameron for help, and Cameron, desparate for Nina's attention, caves in and asks Peter if he can join in on the bike venture. Cameron has his own problems as his would-be blackmailer returns to pick up the baby, leaving him high and dry.
At the end of the episode, it seems that Frankie's dad took $200K to let her move to New York, and she runs to Damien, only to have him tell her that he can't be the guy for her because he is "too old", despite being just one year older. Seems he is falling for Galina, buying her a diamond ring, which she will undoubtedly hock soon enough if she gets the chance. She may not, because it seems she may be involved in the Russian conspiracy when the police burst into the hotel to arrest her for the arrest of Zoe. That's probably a set-up.
The preview seems to show that she's been stealing from Damien. Who didn't see that one coming?
Keeping an eye on the Money Tracker, we see it lists Frankie (why not her mother Addie?) as spending a cool three million so far. Meanwhile it shows Peter as the leader, with just over four million down. Of course, when you're buying real estate, you don't have to plunk down the cash all at once, but if they didn't do so, why ring it up on the tracker like that?
In any case, looking back to the calculations from the first episode, if he took a lump sum payout, Peter may very well be close to halfway through his share, and that's not even considering the paying of taxes or the fact that Sunny gets some of it because of cutting her in for a share. No wonder he's looking for investors and compromising his morals. It could get very interesting very quickly.
