Treasure Hunters Recap: Georgetown, South Carolina
Follow the Drinking Gourd (Part 1). The hunters are back in another bed and breakfast in Boston when they are awakened early in the morning with a clue to check out an abandoned subway tunnel in New York. So they hit the road and head South. Once there, they have to climb through a manhole cover into the abandoned tunnel and walk to find a pile of items to try to find the clue to lead them to their next stop.
The Miss USA team misses the clue, a book wrapped in a flag, and comes out of the tunnel before the see the next few teams coming out with the clue and they head back in. The flag actually holds a clue that you see by wearing special glasses stored in the book. The destination is a plantation in Georgetown, South Carolina. So they are back on the road for a 700 mile drive.
Many hours later the teams start trudging through the swamp in one hundred degree heat trying to figure out a map on a quilt when they figure out that they are supposed to follow the old drinking song. One by one (and two by two sometimes) they reach the end of the swamp and find a boat that can only hold two team members. They have a choice - take off and leave one member behind, or come back for the third team member and take a three-hour penalty. The episode ends with two teams (Geniuses and the Brown Family) deciding whether to abandon the third member. We'll have to wait until next week to find out their decision.
