Captain Benteen (James Whitmore of The Shawshank Redemption) has led his band of colonists for thirty years. Just recently, they received word that they will be headed back to Earth soon, but they haven’t heard another word since, and everyone is now antsy. With every meteor storm that comes, more die. With every day that goes by without word, someone else takes their own life.
Then their saviors come. The ship lands and just like that, it seems that the Earth is within their grasp. But then Captain Benteen isn’t so sure that he wants to return. When he goes back, he will be just another person, instead of the revered head of the society that almost worships him, that hangs on his every word, and so he decides he will stay behind. That is, until the ship is taking off. But then, it’s too late. The ship is gone and he’s all alone. All alone with his memories. At least he’s still in charge.
