Treasure Hunters Recap: Normandy, France
Founding Fathers. We pick up with our teams just where we left off, right after last week's episode, and the other teams are quite disappointed that Air Force comes in rather than the Fogal Family. Still, just as Air Force arrives, everyone has to take off, headed back to France, so they have to be a bit happy that they had no chance for even a moment's rest (or so it seemed).
Once in France, they had two options. They could climb a gorge or they could take a 150-mile detour to Saint Tropez. Somewhat surprisingly, only one team took the detour. What wasn't a shock was that only one team took the detour. What was a surprise was that the team was Miss USA, who is fairly athletic. But they chose to do so because one of their members had a small accident earlier in the race and they weren't sure if she would be able to make the climb.
Afterwards, it seems that they made the right choice. Air Force forged ahead during the trip to the gorge, and their physical traits gave them a lead right away. Meanwhile the other teams lagged on the climb itself. Air Force quickly solved a riddle on the other side, finding a clue in the crumbling rocks of a castle and heading to Paris. The other teams weren't far behind but they spent hours combing the hillside, missing the rocks entirely. In fact, they were so bad, Miss USA went all the way to Saint Tropez and came back, retrieved the clue and left without them even knowing about it.
However, their joy was short-lived. Air Force arrived in Paris at the Eiffel Tower to find the next clue at a monument to freedom, a smaller version of the Statue of Liberty, where they found they would need to drive to the Roscrucian Chateau in Normandy to find the final artifact. They did this and easily came in first after some disappointing finishes the last couple weeks. Meanwhile Miss USA arrived in Paris second, but could not figure out the clue that led to the Chateau, so sat while the other teams skipped over them and got the artifact. Miss USA did find the clue and they were preparing to leave Paris - just as the other teams found the artifact at the Chateau.
Now it's down to four teams, which appears to mean that one more team will be eliminated next week and then there will be a three-way scramble during a finale event in two weeks. I think that's how they are shaping up, at any rate.
