The Class Recap: Pilot

This first episode is based around Ethan (Jason Ritter), who has made the poor decision to throw a party for his girlfriend on the anniversary of the day they first met. This isn't to say that it's bad for him to throw an anniversary party, only that she doesn't seem to see things quite the way that she does. She just doesn't share his love for romantic gestures.

The real problem is that he invited many of the other people that shared this day with them - people from the third grade, where they met. Most of them they haven't seen in a lot of years, and almost all of whom have their own problems. That leaves things looking like they will have something of a dark turn to them, as Ethan's girlfriend leaves in the midst of the party, one of the people who came to the party was about to commit suicide and came instead because he was invited and the episode ended when two partygoers who went on a date instead look like they are going to the hospital after a bit of a mishap with a car.

But there were a good number of laughs, and while the scene was a bit limited, in that everythign happened in flashes through the invites and then at the party itself, it leaves off thinking that it might just be entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what is coming next.
