Lost Recap: The Other 48 Days

The first 30 episodes of Lost have concentrated on the survivors in the fuselage, and only recently have we discovered that there were survivors in the tail section (the "tailies"). This episode tells the story of their first 48 days on the island.

The first night, some of their number were taken by The Others. More may have been lost, but Mr. Eko killed two of those trying to capture them, and that scared them away. As a result of taking these lives, Mr. Eko decided not to talk for the next forty days, a decision that Ana-Lucia didn't particularly like.

Soon, The Others returned to take the children from the group. As a result, the tailies decided to move inland, and soon Ana-Lucia started to dig her pit (seen first in Orientation). She put Nathan in the pit, thinking he was a mole for The Others, but after four days in the pit, Goodwin let him out and told him to get lost before Ana-Lucia killed him. As he turned to leave, Goodwin killed him.

The next day, they found Arrow Station, long ago abandoned by the Dharma Initiative. It still contained a number of goods, however, including a radio, so Ana-Lucia and Goodwin climbed the mountain to see if they could get a decent signal, and it was there that she confronted Goodwin about being one of The Others (and killing Nathan).

Realizing that he had no way out, and no explanation for how he was not wet when he came running out of the jungle after "finding" Bernard in the tree, Goodwin admitted to Ana-Lucia that he was indeed one of The Others, and that the children were fine. Then they fought and Goodwin died when he fell on the stake Ana-Lucia was carrying.

After she came down the mountain, Ana-Lucia told the rest of the tailies that they were safe now and could make camp.

That's when they met Jin, and shortly thereafter, Michael and Sawyer on the beach, and all of them ended up in Ana-Lucia's pit. Ana-Lucia had Mr. Eko hit her, to pretend to be a victim of The Others, and used the sympathy to get close to Sawyer, where she took advantage of the situation to get his gun. Then they started off across the island on their fateful trek that resulted in Shannon's death at the other end of Ana-Lucia's gun.

According to Jim Recap: Model Behavior

When Dana's new boyfriend sees Ruby, he wants to know if she can model in a commercial. The reaction is so-so until Jim finds out that she will make $1500, and then it's on! Cheryl still isn't sure, but she goes along for this one time - but naturally it is never quite that simple with Jim around. By the time they come home from the shoot, he has an agent for Ruby.

Andy, meanwhile, can't figure out why no one will remember him as a child star - yet when someone finally does remember him (a woman at another audition), he can't remember that she was a child star herself. Figures. So he begins to be the creepy guy who makes other kids cry in order to try and get Ruby the job. It doesn't work.

In the end, it's a whole lot of running back and forth, and Ruby doesn't get even a second job, so she gets discouraged and decides that it is just more fun to have some wrestling moves on her bed with Jim. Then everyone is happy. Except maybe Andy. But no one really pays attention to him anyway.

The introduction to this episode also has Jim in bed talking to Cheryl, but in reality it's the family dog - Gary Sinise.

According to Jim Recap: The Hunters

As Thanksgiving nears, Jim and Andy decide to hunt their turkey. So they head across the state line (to Indiana) to a place that lets you shoot your own. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Dana have a bet going that one of them will get shot in the butt with an arrow.

The guide tells them about Angry Pete, a 40-pound Tom that just won't be shot, and so naturaly Andy and Jim head off in the opposite direction of the guide to see if they can catch him. Unfortunately they get bored before long and decide to take a break after shooting a few arrows at a bunny rabbit.

Jim sits his crossbow down on the ground while he uses the bushes and wouldn't you know it - out comes Angry Pete, and he doesn't look happy. The first thing he does is peck at Jim's crossbow and there goes the arrow - right into Jim's butt. Looks like Dana is the winner of the bet.

Not wanting to be shown that he can't hunt, Jim has Andy pick up a turkey at the store, but he buys a frozen one, which gives them away. So as not to let a turkey get the best of him, Jim and Andy return to try and get Pete, but they can't even find him, so they head back home - and run over him with the truck. At least they got him.

Jericho Recap: Fallout

While it seems that Jericho was spared from the blast (at least, from any initial blast), they appear to be in trouble now. There's a storm brewing over towards Denver, and that means that any radioactivity in the air will be brought down onto the people - and the pets, and the ground, and everything else. Luckily there are two shelters in town, and a whole lot of basements. Unfortunately, only one of the shelters works. The other one seems okay, but there isn't an air supply.

Lost Recap: Collision

As the tailies (and Jin, Michael and Sawyer) finally make contact with the rest of the survivors of the crash, they do so in a big way. Shannon is dead, the victim of a gunshot, courtesy of Ana-Lucia. Sayid tries to take it to her, but Mr. Eko proves too much for him and he ends up tied to a tree.

This gives Ana-Lucia a chance to reflect on her life. It turns out that she was a police officer in Los Angeles, undergoing psychiatric evaluation for being involved in an incident where an officer was shot - her. As it happens, she gets to go back to work - for her mother is also her captain. She wrangles her way into a patrol car, but in the first stop, she pulls her own weapon on someone, and when she gets back to the station, they found the guy who shot her. But she won't identify him, so he goes free. That night she heads out to find the guy, and fills him full of bullets.

According to Jim Recap: The Money

Andy wants to buy a condo, but there's just one problem - he doesn't have the down payment. Naturally, he doesn't want to ask Dana, because then he'll have to pay her back somehow - probably well beyond whatever he borrows. So instead, he asks Cheryl, because she's just a lot nicer than Jim. Thankfully, she says yes. But unfortunately, she has to clear it with Jim because Andy needs a thousand dollars.

According to Jim Recap: Poking the Bear

Jim and Cheryl again visit the fertility doctor (Mitch Rouse), and find out that Jim's count is up, but it's still below where it should be. So not only should Jim continue to refrain from his vices, but he should also try to keep from getting upset. This is a problem because his potential client Max (Tom Arnold) is one of those people who just gets you madder every time you see them.

My Name is Earl Recap: Jump for Joy

With Joy in jail, Earl, Crabman and Randy head to court to try and find out how much her bail will be. Well, Earl and Crabman do. Randy goes because he wants the judge to crack open his walnut with his "judge hammer". When the judge tells them, they are floored - Joy's bail is set at $1 million!

It turns out that this is her third strike. She thought it would be a good idea to copy some money one day, and as she was being taken in, she struck an officer, so that was two strikes right there. Now she's set to go down, and no one knows how they will get the money - until they realize that they do know someone - Chubby (Burt Reynolds) - who owns not only the local barebecue joint, but the local strip joint as well (two kinds of meat markets, I guess).

Lost Recap: What Kate Did

As Sayid digs a grave for Shannon, Kate watches over Sawyer in the hatch, and his feverish body begins to mumble, and that takes Kate back to her past.

We see her on the porch of her mother's house as her stepfather, Wayne, comes home drunk and makes passes at her. Then she leaves him in his bed and climbs onto her motorcycle as the house explodes. Later, she talks to her mother at work and tells her that she's taken care of her and hands her an insurance policy on the house.

Lost Recap: The 23rd Psalm

This episode begins with kids playing soccer in the dirt in Nigeria as some men arrive with guns. A priest comes out of the church and tells the men to leave the children alone. One of the boys is given a gun and is told to kill a man that's shoved to his knees, so apparently they don't much care what the priest says. The boy appears to be trying, but he just can't do it, so another, older, boy takes the gun and kills the man. He seems to have no problems. When asked his name, the boy says "Eko". The man who gave the other boy the gun says that he is "a born killer". The other boy, who we learn is Eko's brother, Yemi, picks up a cross from the dirt.

Ghost Whisperer Recap: Love Still Won't Die

Though the title of this episode is remarkably similar to last week's Love Never Dies, it really doesn't have anything to do with that episode, though there are some similarities. Notably, we actually meet Kyle McCall (Michael Landes), who apparently used to date Melinda, and has been obsessed with her ever since he let her go. We find out that that happened when she told him about her gift and he didn't believe her - he simply walked away. Now he's back.

Close to Home Recap: A House Divided

This episode starts off with a doctor seeing a patient in his home office while the family mills about all around - not in the office, exactly, but all around the house. Then we see his wife walking the dog and coming inside, and then it's the next morning and one son is coming downstairs to check on his dad, and he finds him dead in his office. Suddenly the wife is confessing to murder, but there is a problem - the officer didn't read her her rights, so the confession might get tossed, especially when Doug Hellman (Bruce Davison) gets called on to act as her lawyer.
