According to Jim Recap: Date Night
Jim and Cheryl try to have a night out by eating in a nice restaurant, but someone cuts Jim off as he heads for a parking place, and he can't let it go (similar to the Stalking Santa episode). Unfortunately, the guy ends up at the table nearby in the restaurant, so Jim does nothing but focus on him. Then he pulls out a coupon book. Needless to say, Cheryl isn't impressed.
Meanwhile, Andy and Dana are at home with the kids, and Andy is trying to figure out Dana's taxes - which are a bit of a mess. She has just thrown all of her receipts for the year into a bag and now she wants Andy to straighten them all out for her. Unfortunately she makes the mistake of pointing out to Andy that he should stop saving all the time and do what he wants - which is not to do Dana's taxes. So he gets up and leaves, meaning she just turns in the taxes she has, hoping that the IRS will understand she did her best.
Cheryl gets up and leaves when Jim makes a jerk out of himself, and Jim goes looking for her - but he stops to see the movie on the way home, which doesn't go over well. So the next night, she decides to go back and eat by herself. Jim gets a clue and meets her there and they at least have a nice dessert. Though Jim actually orders the rack of lamb, since he hadn't eaten yet - so that may not count as dessert.
