Ghost Whisperer Recap: Drowned Lives
When Melinda's new friend Delia comes to the shop looking for some furniture for a house she's trying to sell, she also tells Melinda about a house that she recently sold that is having some problems with plumbing that just can't be explained, and when she does, an antique birdbath has some unexplained problems of its own, which is when Melinda knows that it might be something a little more up her alley - but she doesn't want to tell Delia that. Still, she thinks she might be able to help, so she offers to meet the couple and have Jim take a look, since he did such a good job on their house.
When Melinda and Delia visit the house, nothing seems to be amiss, but Melinda does spy the ghost - a young girl who can't seem to find her parents. So she once again offers Jim's services, and she and Jim come back later for a dinner, and that is when things go a little bit wacky. The couple doesn't suspect anything at that point, just chalking it up to Delia not being around, but Melinda tries to get the ghost alone, and the new couple gets a bit suspicious, but the appearance of a young boy - a living boy - alleviates that for the time being.
The next day, Melinda spots the boy on the street and finds out that he is the girl's brother. She also talks to the boy's mother, who seems to work nearby, and wants to believe that her daughter has moved to a "better place". Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. The father has moved on to another life and seems to have forgotten about the daughter and the son who is still living, so Melinda tries another tactic - she takes the son to the house when she knows the couple won't be there, and that works for a bit, but then she gets caught. Whoops.
As the couple prepares to move out, Melinda takes one last stab, by contacting the father, but he wants nothing to do with the whole thing - especially when Melinda mentions her special abilities. But when his son pages him with their secret code - 911 - he finally relents and they all meet at the house for one last attempt, which Delia sets up to see if things can work out. Delia keeps the couple out of the house while the family "talks" the little girl into moving on, through Melinda.
