Heroes Recap: Chapter Three: One Giant Leap

We start the third chapter in our saga in the desert with Niki, as she continues the gruesome task of burying the bodies in her trunk before her son wakes up. Somehow she manages to do so, though by the time she finishes, the sun is high in the sky. That kid can sleep through about anything.

While she is digging, however, she finds a rather remarkable ring, which she recognizes as coming from the gang of her son's father, so it seems she's found something interesting - apparently this is where he hid the bodies that he disposed of. But after meeting his mother, she gives a knowing look like maybe she is the one who did the killing, and where is the father, anyway?

Hiro returns himself to Japan, where he talks to Ando, and using the comic book that he brought with him, he manages to convince Ando that he can control time and the two take off (in a plane this time) to the United States.

Once in Los Angeles, they rent a car and head to Las Vegas, which gets Ando's attention because he hopes to see Niki. Also in Los Angeles, Matt is undergoing questioning, and it seems he passes, as they ask if he wants to join the FBI.

Speaking of Isaac, he is spiraling downward at a rapid pace, but it's hard to tell if it is from the drug use or because of his latest drawings. He has recently seen a new image, this one with two figures under an umbrella, and as it turns out, this is Simone and Peter outside of an event held by Nathan, who outs Peter as being depressed and trying to take his own life. Peter isn't happy.

Not far from this event, Mohinder finds a secret room that contains a detailed map that was similar to his father's, but has many more items on it, and it seems that instead of looking for people to help them, someone is looking to kill them. But when he brings the police back, the entire apartment is cleaned out.

Claire, meanwhile, thinks things are looking up, and she is at a party when the quarterback starts paying her attention and feeding her drinks. Before she knows what is happening, they are all alone and he's trying to come onto her, and she can't get him off of her. As they struggle, Claire falls and her head is impaled on a branch or something, and she ends up in the morgue.

At the end of the episode, someone removes it from her head and we see the light return to her eyes. Frankly, I think it is her dad, but we don't see that - we just see that her chest is opened to reveal her ribs. We'll have to wait for more next week.
