My Name is Earl Recap: Van Hickey

When Earl tries to overcome the latest item on his list, he has to reach into the past - when he and Randy tried to form a band with Ralph (Giovanni Ribisi) and Tom (Larry Hankin). Unfortunately, Tom was a bit older than the other guys, and was always getting in the way when they tried to pick up girls, so they kicked him out. That was number 50, and Earl puts the band back together to make up for it.

In the process, Ralph sees the list and spots number 51, which was that Earl slept with his mom (Beth Grant), which needs solving because Ralph wants to kill Earl for his indiscretion. At first, Ralph wants to sleep with Earl's mom, but that doesn't work out because Earl's mom has some morals (or perhaps some taste).

But then Earl agrees to marry Ralph's mom to make up for things and all is okay - except for being married to Ralph's mom, which is a little strange, and then Earl can't consummate the marriage either, which Ralph takes as another offense.

Luckily for Earl, on the night when the band is getting ready to play together, Earl starts drinking so that he can perform his husbandly duties, he ends up passing out and when he comes home, he finds that Tom has stepped up to the plate, and that gets him off the hook on both counts.
