Heroes Recap: Chapter Six: Better Halves
While Hiro and Ando try to leave Las Vegas, the gambler who they attempted to swindle gives them an offer they cannot refuse - he wants them to help him cheat someone else, and so they find themselves playing poker once again.
Suddenly Hiro has the desire to go to the bathroom, and when they do, they know something has happened outside - everyone is slaughtered, and Hiro is confronted with the fact that he may have simply run from his destiny rather than confronting it. Ando calms Hiro by explaining how perhaps in the future, when he has better control over his powers, he can return and make things right, and that cheers Hiro up again.
Meanwhile, Claire is granted one of her wishes - she gets to meet her birth parents. The only problem is that they don't appear to really be her birth parents, a fact that she seems to get when her mother mentions that they were never able to find them before, something they tried to do when there was a problem with some tests run when Claire was a baby. It looks like her dad is up to something fishy.
In Las Vegas, Niki also has a visitor - her husband. It seems that she's not the only one in her family with super-powers, however, and he has some sort of bizarre ability to disappear and walk ghost-like through solid objects (or even people), which is a bit disconcerting. They make a visit to someone to try to help clear his name, and it turns out that the stop is the poker room where Hiro and Ando were - looks like someone doesn't want him to clear his name.
When Niki receives another visitor (which is really herself, so I'm not sure it counts) explains to her that it was she who took the money, and her husband catches her with it, they get into a fight, which Micah witnesses. This leaves Niki on the floor, seemingly dead, and D.L. takes off with a screaming Micah (he doesn't seem to have the money, though). It seems here that the one who doesn't want him to clear his name is Niki's other self. And she has a temper, too. But you already knew that.
Peter is still working with Isaac in New York to try and figure out the paintings, and they have determined that one is missing. It appears that Simone may have the missing painting, which unfortunately seems rather crucial to figuring out what they need to do.
Also in New York, Mohinder is ready to pack it in and head back to India, so Eden kisses him to get him to stay. He doesn't, so she puts in a call to her partner in crime - which turns out to be Claire's dad. That was an interesting turn of events. I sure didn't see it coming.
