According to Jim Recap: Bo Diddley
Cheryl ends up at the dentist's for root canal surgery, but she agrees to go, as long as Jim agrees to be there with her the whole time. She should know better. Sure enough, almost as soon as she is out, Andy comes in to tell Jim that Bo Diddley is downstairs (Bo calls Andy "Slim", which he likes). Jim thinks about it for three seconds, then heads downstairs to meet one of his idols.
It turns out that Bo needs a lift home, so Jim and Andy are only too happy to oblige. Then they get there and do chores around the house and get back to see Cheryl come out of her surgery - in fact they get back and Cheryl is already out of the chair and in a recovery room.
When she finds out that Jim left her to meet Bo Diddley (Bo sends Jim a gift basket), she isn't happy at all. But Jim agrees that it will never happen again, and it was a rare thing and how often do you get to meet a blue legend like that anyway, so she lets it slide.
Then Cheryl and Dana are going to go out to a movie, and she leaves Jim an envelope from Bo Diddley, containing backstage passes to a concert. Jim doesn't know what to do - is he being setup? Or should he go. It's Jim. He goes. But first, he calls Marilyn Crannis (Robin Krieger) to watch the kids, and he and Andy head out.
When they get to the club, he can't go in. So he heads back and tells Cheryl what happens. She isn't happy with what he did, but she is happy that he made a breakthrough - and it doesn't seem like she was behind the whole thing at all. Or perhaps she was and she's just being coy. We may never know.
