When Cheryl overhears Jim telling Ryan about her boring apple stories, she resolves to do something about it – so she makes Dana give up an Oprah story (Dana met Oprah at the coffee place, and bought her coffee since Oprah didn’t have any money on her). This impresses everyone, but it just kills Jim, because suddenly he’s not the center of attention any longer. So now he has to do something about it.
He and Andy come up with an idea for a story where the site trailer at work catches on fire and Jim carries Andy out to save him. Perhaps not the best idea – Andy is Andy, after all, and even with the adrenalin rush, that’s a lot to carry out. But everyone buys it, and Cheryl is out of the limelight.
The problem they run into is that Ryan is drinking because now Dana is boring, so she wants her story back. And the kids want to see the trailer so they can take pictures for show-and-tell.
So Cheryl brings the kids down, and trying to cover their tracks, Jim and Andy set fire to the trailer so that they don’t get caught. But they can’t put it out because they sprayed the fire extinguisher on each other during a prior prank, and then it ignites the oxygen canisters that Andy was using because he got hooked on them while he was playing his part in the “saved from the fire” bit, so the trailer really does explode.
Since it’s unlikely that it would happen two days in a row, Jim is completely busted. But just as Cheryl is getting started on him, Dana bursts in, and Cheryl is busted too. Ah well. Back to boring life as usual.
