When Jim receives a call from Melissa (Linda Hamilton), his old college girlfriend, Cheryl says that he should go out with her – there’s no problem with men and women being friends. Jim tries to argue, but as usual he is shot down. Then Cheryl has a somewhat bizarre dream in the produce section of the supermarket where everyone explains how she is losing her man, and begins to wonder.
Over the next few days, she really starts to notice a difference, because Melissa makes her move. First she proposes that she and Jim begin to renovate and flip houses together, which means that they will be working closely with each other.
Once that happens and they are spending time together, there is a lot of touching going on and a whole lot of spending time together, and then, Cheryl has had just about enough, so she shows up at one of these nights out and tells Melissa just how it is.
Perhaps needless to say, but Jim enjoys that a great deal – seeing Cheryl stand up for him is one of the highlights of his night, if not his entire life. Whether or not he noticed what Melissa was up to or not is questionable, but once Cheryl made her stand, there’s no doubt that he’s got things straightened out again.
