Lost Recap: I Do

There's an interesting flashback in this episode, with a vastly younger-looking Kate getting married, though she's posing as Monica, so it's obviously after she's on the run. Her husband is named Kevin, and is played by Nathan Fillion of Serenity. Though a police officer, he has no idea of her past.

Kate really seems to be in love, because she risks a phone call to Marshal Mars and asks him to stop chasing her. He actually agrees, but he says that he will stop only if she stops moving, and says that there is no way that she will do so.

Back on the island, Locke finds a message on the staff that Mr. Eko carved, and it reads: "Lift up your eyes and look North." No idea what this means just yet, but perhaps we will find out soon.

When Kate is confronted with the possibility that Sawyer will be killed, she agrees to ask Jack to operate on Ben, but it doesn't seem like Jack is going to do so. He asks them to take Kate away. Then Kate and Sawyer spend the night together in Sawyer's cage.

The next day, Jack sees them on the monitors and agrees to operate. During the operation, he cuts a hole in Ben's liver and uses it to blackmail The Others into letting Kate and Sawyer go free.

That's when we see the last of Kate's earlier life (for now). She drugs her husband and tells him that she has to go. She just can't live a life like this. We also saw that he gave her two airline tickets (on Oceanic Air) to Costa Rica for their honeymoon. Though we didn't see it, presumably she trades them in for one ticket to Australia.

We're only six episodes into this season, but this is the last new episode until February of 2007. Apparently there will be no reruns, however, as a new series will air until then. We'll see how that works out.
