Heroes Recap: Chapter Eleven: Fallout
After a brief review of how everyone got to where they are now, the Fall Finale of Heroes starts up, and we see Claire with her dad. Perhaps the strangest part of it all is that her dad seems to be entirely open with her - telling Claire that he has known for some time, and that he has done things of which he is not proud, all in the interest of protecting her. Then he tells Claire that she needs to not tell anyone else, and to make sure to get the tapes she made with Zach and destroy them, so that no one else can find out the secret. Being the good little girl that she is, she promptly does just this.
Meanwhile, Matt Parkman has made his way to Odessa to investigate the goings on, and he and Detective Hanson interview Peter Petrelli, only to discover that Peter is telling the truth - he didn't kill Jackie. That moment is when Peter finally realizes that he doesn't have his own power, but he is able to use the power of others, for when Matt is reading his mind, he is able to read the mind of detective Hanson, and later Peter tries to talk to Claire about it, but they are interrupted when Claire's dad gets impatient waiting for her.
In fact, Matt investigates a number of people in this episode. While he is standing in the wings and Detective Hanson is interviewing Claire, Matt tries to find out what is happening - but all he gets is static. He remembers that this is like the night in the bar when he lost an entire day, and that gets his mind working, so he and Detective Hanson stake out the office of Mr. Bennet, and they seem him with The Haitian. Matt hears that static again, but he is able to pull out one word - Sylar.
Somewhere in Utah, D.L. and Micah are on the run after Jessica shot D.L. in the shoulder, but before Jessica could put the killing shot into D.L., he did his ghost-thing and instead the bullet went into the tire of the truck. D.L. and Micah then ran into the woods, and they lured Jessica to an abandoned cabin. When Jessica went after D.L., she ended up throwing Micah into some rocks, and that brought Niki out again, and she realized that she is a threat, so turned herself into the police.
Speaking of the police, Nathan is busy trying to cover Peter's tracks, so he ends up in Odessa and gets Peter released from jail - but not before Peter has a frightening visit from Sylar (apparently a mental visit only).
Hiro and Ando have also made their way to Odessa, and they meet up with Isaac, who is now able to paint without the help of drugs, and he does a nice image of Hiro battling what appears to be a dinosaur. But that surely is the past, so there is no idea how this fits in. Isaac managed to escape from the clutches of Claire's dad with the help of Eden, who apparently has decided she's playing for the wrong team.
We then see Claire in a panic, because both her brother and Zach seem to have forgotten all about her ability to heal when she has been injured. It's a sure sign that The Haitian has been to visit (but she doesn't know this - she thinks The Bad People are on to her). So she calls her dad for help, and he says that he'll be right there. But when she gets off the phone, The Haitian steps out of the closet and has a few choice words for Claire, including that he has made her mother forget many times, and that she needs to play along when her father gets home. It looks like there are some secrets to be had - this is the first time he's ever talked, and even Eden said "if he could talk", and she has apparently been around him more than just about anyone.
Speaking of Eden, after she lets Isaac go, she makes a call to Mohinder, who has finally returned to the US, and she says that she has lied to him, and that she will fill him in on all the details - but not until she takes care of the person who killed his father. With that, she goes to have Sylar kill himself, but it seems that Sylar is too powerful for her. He crashes out of his cell and attempts to take Eden's brain, but before he can, she uses the gun on herself. At least Sylar didn't get her.
Just before the end of the episode, Peter has another vision. This one is of himself and the other heroes in an abandoned city (presumably New York), and then he sees that he is the one who causes the explosion - because he is the explosion.
