According to Jim Recap: Everyone Gets Dumped
Dana has some great news - she met a new guy. His name is Doug. But it seems that there's just one problem. He used to date Cheryl, and since that might be a little strange, she wants to run it by Cheryl first. It's a good thing that Cheryl doesn't have a problem with it, because it turns out that Dana has been dating him for a month. This family is so dysfunctional. But it gets worse, because Jim gets along great with Doug - bad news, because Cheryl was hoping he wouldn't, because she's weirded out by the whole fact that her ex comes over for dinner.
It's even worse, because she doesn't have "closure" with him. It seems that one day he just told her that "life is long" and never called again. Jim, of course, doesn't care - because Doug has season tickets to the Cubs, and before you know it, it's like he's dating the guy. Which gets even worse when Doug says those dreaded words to Dana. Then there are two women talking about closure. At least Jim still gets to go to his games.
That is, until he gets to hear the words for himself. Then it's on. So they come up with a plan. All four of them (of course, Andy is in on it too) will head to the game and pretend that they're having a grand time, and show Doug what he is missing out on. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Doug really cares. So then they have to confront him and tell him that he's just inconsiderate for not telling them how he really feels. To which he responds that he was trying to spare their feelings, and he has to tell them how he really feels. That doesn't go over well, so next time they do it Jim's way and just ignore it.
