Just like the Pilot episode, this one takes place at a party, though this one goes a bit better than that one. This party is thrown to celebrate the anniversary of Nicole and Yonk. Amazingly, it’s just their first year together. The way they are going, they may not make it to their second. While Nicole put a huge amount of thought into her gift, giving a framed paper (paper being the first anniversary) with one of Yonk’s games and a cake that he loves, Yonk gave her… a stripper pole.
While Duncan is upstairs in the bedroom installing the pole by actually bolting it into the floor he gets full-force just how badly she dislikes the gift, and later downstairs, Yonk shares some of his thoughts for some follow-on gifts, mostly from the “stripper store”. That’s all that he can take. He suggest that, since Nicole likes fashion (which seems to be news to Yonk), he should get her tickets to fashion week. Yonk promptly gets on the phone and pulls some strings.
As all this is happening, the host of the first party, Ethan, is having some issues of his own. It seems his relationship with Kat might be taking off – but then again, maybe it isn’t. So when her old friend from school moves in across the hall, Ethan checks out what she is doing with fruit (making a calendar of fruit doing strange things, like signing the Declaration of Independence). He then stays for the night, which wouldn’t be so bad, but Kat catches him the next morning. Whoops.
That isn’t all the drama, however, as at the party, Lina has told Richie that she wants to be with him, but she just isn’t sure, so he needs to give her some space. So after Nicole tells Lina how her husband doesn’t get her at all, she realizes that Richie completely gets her, and she will definitely give him another chance – especially after she sees him give her a show on the stripper pole.
About then is when Yonk comes through with passes for fashion week, and that’s when Nicole realizes that Yonk probably didn’t do it on his own, either, but Duncan doesn’t seem to want to admit to it, either. What do you want to bet that Yonk won’t be available to go, so she’s going to take Duncan along when she goes?
