Ghost Whisperer Recap: Ghost, Interrupted
This episode actually has two ghosts (well, there are more than two, but two primary ghosts). The focus is on Natalie and her twin Zoe. Melinda and Andrea briefly meet Natalie first, but only as she asks to use the bathroom. Then Melinda speaks a bit longer with Zoe (the ghost). It seems that Natalie and Zoe are twins, but Zoe has met an untimely demise. This is the primary ghost for the episode, but while Natalie and Zoe aren't around, Melinda actually has her own ghost - the memory of her grandmother.
Apparently triggered by the approach of her grandmother's birthday, but also because Natalie is in a clinic, which constantly reminds Melinda of the home where her grandmother was just before she died, and then we also get to see how Melinda went to visit her one afternoon after school, and didn't realize that she was dead and actually saw her grandmother's spirit. Spooky. A minor point, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
Meanwhile, Zoe is sticking around because she feels that her sister needs her. It seems that Zoe died one night while swimming out to a buoy on the lake, after drinking a lot and also after sleeping with her sister's boyfriend. The boyfriend who, incidentally, doesn't want to even speak to Natalie. Natalie's mother is only too happy to keep her in the clinic, while her father is trying desperately to reach her, and manages to work with Melinda to that end.
Eventually Zoe, the father and Melinda all manage to make a little progress, but eventually Natalie has to go off on the boyfriend and swim the route that Zoe was trying to do for herself before she breaks free, and that allows Zoe to pass over. Good thing that Natalie made it, or there would have been two ghosts the next week.
