Dirt Recap: This Is Not Your Father’s Hostage Situation

As Lucy wonders where she’ll find her next story, it turns out that the story is on her way to her. Former child star Sammy Winter (Vincent Gallo) has decided that it’s time to collect on a debt that he feels he’s owed by Lucy. Unfortunately, it’s not really convenient for anyone else.

It would appear that Sammy was promised a story some time ago, on Lucy’s rise to the top, and as Lucy has a habit of sometimes doing, she simply forgot to do that story. So now Sammy wants it done, and he’s decided to take the entire office hostage to get his story out there. As they say in Hollywood, any press is good press.

Jericho Recap: Black Jack

Jericho · Season 1 · Episode 13 · Aired February 28, 2007

Jake and Jimmy, who is acting an awful lot like a big-shot (especially so as he has generally had almost no role through the first twelve – count ‘em – episodes of this show) decide that it’s getting mighty cold out when they come across a dead body in a house right there in town.

There isn’t any mention of just why they are canvassing the town, or why they chose this one, or who this guy is in the first place, but it apparently isn’t the only person who’s turned up dead from the cold, so that gets everyone worried enough to decide to leave their little Garden of Eden and venture out into the big, cruel world and try to find a trading post that Roger heard stories about while he was trying to make his way back to Emily.

The Class Recap: The Class Rides a Bull

The Class · Season 1 · Episode 18 · Aired February 26, 2007

Nicole has decided that she is going to leave Yonk. But she hasn’t quite come to terms with the actual leaving part just yet, so she thinks that it will be easier if she can get everything packed up and moved before he gets home from his trip. But when he comes home early, it throws a wrench into those plans.

It gets worse when he wants to take Duncan and Richie out to eat lunch, since they are getting ready to pack up and leave forever. Yonk is just trying to be a nice guy, and Nicole sees it as an opportunity to get him out of the house, but Duncan isn’t so sure he can keep the secret that Nicole is getting ready to leave him if they are all sitting down at lunch. Eventually he manages to get a clue that Nicole won’t be there – she’s going to be at home packing, and he agrees to distract Yonk so Nicole can pack.

Grease: You're the One That I Want Recap: Frankie Avalon Performs with the Sandys

Grease: You're the One That I Want · Season 1 · Episode 7 · Aired February 25, 2007

On the prior episode, Chad and Kathleen were saved by the judges from having to go home. This week, Frankie Avalon joins the panel as the remaining Sandys sing their hearts out. Presumably since only the girls are singing this week, there will only be two people in the bottom next week. If there are still four, then only one person won’t be in the bottom group!

That’s the strangest thing about this show is the unpredictability. On one hand, that is okay. Not knowing what comes next isn’t entirely bad. You want to watch to see what happens. But on the other hand, it’s just bizarre. It seems like they change things every week and so it’s hard to get it down. On American Idol, they keep you guessing as to who is going to leave, but the format is basically the same. Here they announce it at the end, in the beginning, it’s four people, it’s two people, your vote counts, except when it doesn’t. It’s just strange. Oh well. On with the show.

Rob and Amber, who arrived in Quinto, Ecuador in first place, were the first team to depart, with instructions to fly to Santiago, Chile. When they landed, they were to travel to the headquarters of Codelco, the largest copper mining company in the world.

On the way out of the park, Charla and Mirna managed to get their truck stuck in the mud, and were helped out by those overly-nice folks from Kentucky, David and Mary, which actually lead Mirna to say that they were trustworthy. Too bad the same couldn’t be said for her. There I go with the foreshadowing again. Keep reading to see what I mean.

Close to Home Recap: Internet Bride

Close to Home · Season 2 · Episode 16 · Aired February 23, 2007

This episode has a rather bizarre twist, and it all starts so simply (doesn’t it always)? A Russian woman is found dead, and her husband, a prominent teacher at a local college is, suddenly indicted for her murder. Naturally the husband did it, after all, even though he was traveling for work. It seems like a fairly open-and-shut case, what with the physical evidence. In fact, it looks like he may have tried to cover his tracks by making it look like she was trying to kill herself in the garage by inhaling the fumes from the running car.

But when more evidence is found inside the house that makes it unlikely that his wife would have even been able to make it into the garage in the first place, much less start the car on her own, it seems even more unlikely that she could have done all this by herself, so it’s time to bring the husband in to see if they can get him to trial. That’s when the fun begins.

Ghost Whisperer Recap: The Walk-In

Ghost Whisperer · Season 2 · Episode 17 · Aired February 23, 2007

Jim has to make a late-night run to the morgue on his own, to deliver a body to none other than Curtis “Booger” Armstrong, all because Tim took the night off. But the next morning, there’s a body missing from the morgue, and no one seems to know just what to think of it – except Melinda – only it doesn’t seem to be a regular ghost, because usually they leave their body, they don’t get up and move the body around.

Going to talk to Professor Payne, he makes the call that she’s dealing with a zombie here, with the thought being that someone just cured this body overnight and now it’s up and wandering around, looking for something more to do before it settles down for a permanent dirt nap. But there seems to be something else going on, and she can’t quite put her finger on it.

Lost Recap: Stranger in a Strange Land

Lost · Season 3 · Episode 9 · Aired February 21, 2007

It’s difficult to know where to start on these episodes that have a lot of back-story intermingled with the real-time story that’s taking place on the island. In fact, in this episode, there was almost more of the time devoted to the back-story than there was to what was actually taking place on the island. Which is now something like two years behind real-time, assuming the plane crashed when the series originally aired. So does that make the current story back-story, too?

That’s just too much to worry about. Let’s stick with the regular telling. In the dank underbelly of The Others hideout, Jack is confronted by someone named The Sheriff (who also calls herself Isabel). It seems that she doesn’t like being on this little island and would rather be elsewhere, but thanks to the fact that Juliet has killed one of her former comrades, she’s been called to Hell, so she needs to talk to Jack so she can get back home. And by the way, she can read Jack’s tattoo.

My Name is Earl Recap: Guess Who’s Coming Out of Joy

My Name is Earl · Season 2 · Episode 18 · Aired February 22, 2007

As Joy approaches her due date, it causes Earl to reflect on the last time he was around when she was having a baby. At least this time, he is fairly confident that the baby is his. Of course, that time he thought that it was his too. Only time would tell that it wasn’t the case.

When the date neared, Earl’s parents were overjoyed – an odd condition, because they are usually somewhat reserved in their opinions of their son. Disappointed might be an even better word. But with the arrival of their first natural-born grandson (you will recall that Joy already brought one), they were like new people, arriving at the hospital in their “world’s best” t-shirts.

Dirt Recap: The Thing Under the Bed

After the mess with the cheerleader has her reeling a bit (see The Secret Lives of Altar Girls for the beginning of the saga, and Come Together for the part that really shook her), Willa is looking to get back in the saddle – and make sure that Lucy really likes what she is doing. So she’s out, trying to figure out what is going on with one of Hollywood’s most eligible stars, who is alleged to be getting married.

Willa even has an in with the publicist – but he isn’t giving her much. Because of their relationship, he will let her in on the bidding, but that’s not sitting well with Lucy – she doesn’t like putting up a bunch of cash when she doesn’t even know what she is bidding on, so she sends Willa and Don out to try and find the real story, and what they come up with is nothing short of spectacular.
