Dirt Recap: The Secret Lives of Altar Girls
As Lucy gets a bit desperate for a cover, she settles on a cheerleader from a small town who recently turned up dead in the woods, with the reasoning that someone that young has to have something going on that is newsworthy. It turns out that she is right, but in a twist worthy of Close to Home, in a way that you're never likely to suspect.
Guest star Paul Reubens (yes, Pee Wee himself) plays oddly named Chuck Lafoon, an old-timer who escorts Willa on her first big story to see if she can get something big for next week's cover. They turn up some fairly decent Dirt in the process.
As Chuck talks to the staff of the town, trying to get the official angle, Willa makes nice with the best friend of the dead girl, and before you know it, she has found herself a reasonable story. It seems that Willa's new friend isn't just the best friend of the dead girl. She is also the daughter of the town's minister, and after some digging, it looks like there is some good news for the cover story.
Not only was the dead girl pregnant, and not only had she promised to remain pure until marriage, but the father of the baby is none other than the minister. Now it's getting interesting. Lucy runs a cover that tells all - that the minister "did it". Of course, she is saying that he got her pregnant, but he ends up getting arrested for the murder. Unfortunately, it seems that he's not guilty. That privilege is reserved for his daughter, and she's all too anxious to confess when she learns that her father is getting all the press.
You see, this little girl just wants nothing more than to be on the cover of Dirt Now - well, that and to be daddy's little girl. That's right. It seems that not only did she know about what was happening with her father and her friend, but she was in on it too. So when she found out that her friend was pregnant, she was jealous, so she killed her. Wow. That's a whole new level of freaky.
Back in Los Angeles, video game-playing Julia can't be bothered to check her voice mail, so she doesn't know when she'll get back in the game. But her beau, Holt, landed a major movie deal when action star Jack Dawson was outed in You Don't Know Jack.
In another special appearance, Christopher Knight also shows up, trying to hawk a homemade sex tape that he hopes will be "stolen", but it turns out that it's a little too tasteless, even for Lucy.
For the surprise of the night (that is only surprising in how long it took to happen), Holt and Lucy meet at an industry party and on the way home in a limo, they decide that it's finally time to consummate their relationship. It's about time. But you just have to wonder what took them so long. And you also have to wonder if anyone is watching from the front seat. It's also curious that Holt didn't notice the worms when he threw up.
