Ghost Whisperer Recap: The Walk-In

Jim has to make a late-night run to the morgue on his own, to deliver a body to none other than Curtis "Booger" Armstrong, all because Tim took the night off. But the next morning, there's a body missing from the morgue, and no one seems to know just what to think of it - except Melinda - only it doesn't seem to be a regular ghost, because usually they leave their body, they don't get up and move the body around.

Going to talk to Professor Payne, he makes the call that she's dealing with a zombie here, with the thought being that someone just cured this body overnight and now it's up and wandering around, looking for something more to do before it settles down for a permanent dirt nap. But there seems to be something else going on, and she can't quite put her finger on it.

Eventually, however, things become a bit clearer. It seems that the problem is that the body was actually taken over by another ghost, so Melinda has to deal with two ghosts here. The one that "left" the body because he decided that he was done with it, and the other ghost who took it over because he wasn't quite done with what he had to do in life. So now she has to try and get them to finish their business so that they can cross over.

After a bit of investigation, it turns out that the two actually knew each other in life as well. The most recently deceased was something of a jock in high school, but it seems that his life has gone downhill a bit since then, and he has fairly thrown his life away - and in fact, that he may have simply killed himself since he couldn't make anything out of his life since high school.

Meanwhile, the ghost that took over his body seems to have been a bit less than physically able in life, and he's apparently been watching the other guy for years, and only now took the opportunity, which is really great for him, since it's just before the ten-year reunion.

Not sure she wants to get into this, Melinda agrees to take the possessed body back to the reunion, but only if the dispossessed ghost helps him through everything. That will (apparently) make everyone happy, and everything goes smoothly enough until a wisecracking dead guy gets into an argument, and a broken punchbowl in the gut actually kills the body. I'm not sure how you can really kill a reanimated corpse, but apparently it can happen.

Nonetheless, at that point, both souls are ready to cross over, now that they have made it to their class reunion. A bit sappy, but interesting for the zombie factor.
