Heroes Recap: Chapter Fourteen: Distractions
Peter is still trying to come to terms with being an apprentice to The Invisible Man (who has the clever name of Claude, like Claude Rains - get it?). It seems that Claude just likes to walk around and disrupt the world, while Peter is a little antsy, because he'd like to learn how to control all these powers that he's absorbing. It doesn't seem that Claude is on the same schedule.
After a bit of haggling - which is basically a nice way of saying that Peter is begging for some real teaching - Claude agrees that it's time to see what Peter can do on his own. Sure, Peter can pick up the powers while Claude is nearby, but can he hold onto them while Claude isn't right there? So why not see if he can do it on his own? Sink or swim, you know? So Claude grabs a lady's purse, shoves it in Peter's hands, and walks away. Peter, naturally, blows it, and rapidly becomes visible again. He's so busted, and his skills are not getting better.
