Ghost Whisperer Recap: The Curse of the Ninth
Drama abounds in Grandview once again, as Melinda meets a waiter in a nightclub who is haunted by not one, but two different ghosts. As she tries to enjoy a night out with Jim, the put-upon husband who puts the rest of us guys to shame with how understanding he is, the rest of the crowd gets to enjoy the waiter-turned-entertainer. Until the screech of horrid afterworldly tunes come out of his guitar.
That's when Melinda knows that something is up. She just doesn't quite know what it is that she's in for just yet.
At first, she thinks that Brandon - the haunted one - is merely getting razzed from the grave by his old man, who wanted him to play classical music, not rock and roll. Seeing signs all about, this seems like the logical conclusion. But as the episode unfolds, something even more sinister reveals itself.
It turns out that Brandon's dad is actually trying to help him. It seems that he's being rebuffed by another ghost, Jared, who doesn't want Brandon to play any of that classical stuff.
You see, Brandon and Jared were in a band. And this band was on the verge of doing something great. The only problem was that Brandon was good. Really good. You don't think that's a problem, do you? Well it is if you are Jared, and you just can't stand it that you formed this band, and asked Brandon to join you, and then found out that he's the reason that things are going so well. There aren't too many people that would take it very well.
It gets worse.
You see, there is a special track on the album that they were about to release. It was track #10, and Melinda keeps seeing the number 10 everywhere. She always thought that it was the tenth symphony, and that Brandon was supposed to finish the symphony for his dad. But it turns out that it's the tenth track on the album. But the album wasn't released with ten tracks. It was released with nine. Therein lies the problem.
The tenth track is the one that Brandon's dad wants him to play. It's the one that will get him going again. It seems that Jared doesn't want Brandon to play this particular song for one other reason. It's a love song. To his girlfriend. That wouldn't exactly have helped the situation.
Once Melinda finds out the details, she manages to convince Jared that he can't do anything about it, and that gives Brandon's dad the power to fight off Jared long enough to get Brandon to play. The dad takes off into the light, and Jared, well, he should too. But instead, he ends up heading to the other side, along with a host of other folks. I wonder if we're going to see the culmination of that storyline any time soon?

I would really like to know who sings the song at the end of that episode. His voice is wonderful and the song beautiful. If anyone knows I would appreciate the name.

Hi Tarri -
From what I could find (which was really just one site), there were three artists contributing to this episode.
In the first few minutes, just before Brandon came on stage, the song was Pain by Three Days Grace. When Melinda walks into the music store, it's Until Yesterday by JC Chasez.
The final song appears to be Running Away by Midnight Hour, and from what I can tell, they don't have a CD out at this point (though they do have a version of Running Away on the link above, or did when I wrote this, at any rate - so that will tell you if it's the right band!).
