Jericho Recap: Semper Fidelis

Gray is finally getting the hang of this mayor thing. He just has to do what everyone dislikes and he should be set. Or maybe that is what will get him kicked out and then someone else will have to deal with the problem. Regardless, he's ready to kick Roger and his friends to the curb - or at least out of Jericho - but then a great big announcement comes up that means he can forget about it for a week.

Or, we can forget about it for a week. He can forget about it for longer. Or less. Damn. I don't know. Anyway, some marines roll into town - in a tank - and tell everyone that they are about to be added to the electric grid. Apparently someone has consolidated things in Columbus, Ohio (you know, the central seat of power, that Hawkins was supposed to take out).

Well, apparently those other five places where the president is supposed to exist don't matter any more, because Coulmbus is where it's at. Maybe Wendy's has survived. Anyway, since Columbus has it going on, they sent the Marines to Jericho to turn things back on, and that means that Gray is going to hand them everything, and that's just what he does. Too bad he forgot to actually let them do the work first.

Luckily, Jake and his dad are still paying attention. Jake notices some local noise on the radio, and sends Stanley out to see what he can find. Sure enough, they dig up one guy with a walkie-talkie, and it looks like he must be the president, because he's the one the marines are talking to all the while. Johnston, on the other hand, notices that the Marines don't say the right thing when they salute his toast at dinner, and that means something is up.

Not wanting to get the town mad, they decide to run everyone out, but not tell them what's happening. Frankly, I think the town is going to figure it out when they don't have electricity. But maybe that's just me. So Jake and company send them packing, only they keep the tank in Stanley's barn. That's cool. I wish I had a tank.

Over at the Hawkins' place, the charade is up. Sarah gets to see Hawkins' package, and it is the bomb. Uh, it is a bomb. Dang. You know what I mean. Meanwhile, when Sarah isn't looking, Hawkins takes Sarah's little messenger-thing and figures out that she's just setting him up. But it seems that Sarah is one step ahead of him. She takes Sam hostage, and Darcy for good measure.

Fortunately for Hawkins, he gave daughter Allison shooting lessons (way back in 9:02), and she comes through in a big way here - she takes out Sarah with maximum prejudice, saving her family in the process. Unfortunately, Darcy still isn't happy with her husband.
