In the prior episode, Another Danny Must Leave, both the Dannys and the Sandys sang. Now it was time for one of each to head home, setting up the final showdown.

Laura Osnes was the first to find out that she was safe, and would be in the final two, so Ashley Spencer and Allie Schulz went head-to-head for the final spot, with Ashley getting the nod. Just like I called it!

Meanwhile, Austin Miller was given the first spot in the finals for the Dannys, meaning it was Derek Keeling against Max Crumm for the final spot. I was off a bit in this prediction, but in the end, Derek was sent packing, for his inability to sustain the high note (presumably), and it’s Austin and Max for the rush to the end. I did pick that, so I can rest easy.

After this, Laura and Ashley sang Hopelessly Devoted to You, and we got to see a video of each. Laura’s was filmed by her soon-to-be husband (poor guy, he has to keep putting off the wedding), while Ashley’s video was filmed by her sister.

Just about now, a surprise announcement was made that Ashley’s sister, Meghan, had been given money – from the message boards no less – to make the final show. So she’s brought out to see her little sister sing for the spot on Broadway.

Chad’s Take: Two things sealed the deal for me. First, Laura is better than Ashley. Second, Ashley had her “moment in the sun” with her sister. It’s Laura’s game now. Ashley will be headed home for sure.

Then the guys took the stage, and Austin and Max alternated singing Sandy and we got to see their videos, and they were able to deliver a speech on why they should get the audience vote (of course, the girls did this too).

Chad’s Take: It’s still Max for me. Austin is good in some situations, but Max is the complete package, and he’ll be able to deliver on every level.

The Prediction: Max and Laura.

Update: Max and Laura won it, and saw their names announced in lights on Broadway. Of course, I doubt too many people noticed the Times Square billboard, and if they did, they probably had no idea what it meant. After the announcement was made, the rest of the cast was introduced, so it seems that they have been at work for a little while, at least.
