Ghost Whisperer Recap: Children of Ghosts
Melinda goes to an estate sale with Delia, where she is confronted with a familiar feeling. As she tries to look at some snow globes, the wind picks up and things just get a little bit creepier, so she knows that yet another ghost is about to make its presence known. Yet it's a little girl who confronts her, saying that the snow globes belonged to her mother.
Upon further investigation, it seems that the little girl came to Grandview with her mother, but while she was waiting for her mother to return so they could take a bus or something, her mother never showed. She's been waiting ever since, moving from one foster home to the next. The wind and general disturbances that follow her have been getting stronger recently.
Melinda turns to that fountain of knowledge, Professor Payne, who thinks that perhaps it is just the fact that the girl is approaching puberty, and he even brings a bunch of paranormal equipment over to Melinda's place to try and prove it.
You see, since the girl is looking for a new home since her latest foster parents can't deal with all the disturbances, Melinda and Jim have decided to step up to the plate. I'm sure it's simple in their little world to become foster parents, and so in just a couple of minutes, they are, and they get their very first choice.
So Payne shows up, and sets up all sorts of fancy equipment, and tries to monitor the goings-on. What he finds out is that there is something happening. When these things hit, there is definitely some energy present, but Melinda can't seem to make out the ghost. It's like it's there, but it doesn't want to be known, and so it looks like she's going to have to do some more fact-finding on her own.
That's when the truth starts to come out, just as it does every other week.
When Melinda investigates the girl's mom, it turns out that her daughter was the one who died. So it's a bit odd that the girl is still alive. That in turn leads Melinda to look into some other reports around Grandview, and it seems that she has things all figured out, which gets the ghost to finally come out of the dark.
Apparently this mom, distraught over losing her own child, saw another mom at the park with three shiny happy faces of her own, and thought that she'd just take one. So she did. When she found out she was dying, she brought the girl back to Grandview, but before she could reunite the girl with her real mom, she died, and she's been hanging around ever since.
Now it's up to Melinda to make peace with her dead adoptive mom and get things straightened out with her real mom, which she (of course) does. It's a little odd, really, but naturally it all works out in the end.
