Ghost Whisperer Recap: Delia's First Ghost

Ned (and friends) decide to play a practical joke on an old man who has been hassling them, by first tripping the power to his apartment. When he comes downstairs to check and see what's going on, they start banging trash cans, popping the washing machine lid and exploding firecrackers in laundry detergent, all to make him think that there's a ghost there. They have a good laugh at his expense.

Then they get their own treat when a real ghost decides to visit them, except his show is a bit more spectacular. Instead of just some banging, the electrical box arcs when Ned tries to turn it back on, and the whole place seems like it is about to come down on them. Perhaps this wasn't such a good idea. Naturally, he turns to Melinda to see if she can help.

As luck would have it, Melinda can't help - at least at first - because this is one of those ghosts that doesn't want to be seen. When she takes Ned back to the basement, the only thing she knows to do is have him apologize, to see if that calms things down. It doesn't. If anything, that seems to make it worse.

Meanwhile, Delia is going out on a date (with some guy named Dale). It's not going well, and it gets worse when Tim strolls by with Jim, and sees Delia on a date. He decides that he has to step it up a notch. He buys a motorcycle. But not just any motorcycle. It's the exact same kind that Charlie - Delia's husband - had. Hmm. Very interesting.

Very interesting, in fact, because about then is when Melinda starts to realize that Charlie is the ghost that's been attached to Ned. She's just got to figure out why - and why he won't show himself. That's when Jim finds that Tim is the one who rescued Charlie from a fire, and she starts to put the pieces together. The only problem is that she has to tell Delia that she can see ghosts, and Delia doesn't take to well to it. When Melinda tells Delia that the ghost she sees is Charlie, it goes from bad to worse.

But at least she gets Charlie to admit that he's sabotaging Delia's date on purpose. All but Tim, that is - when Tim rescued Charlie from the fire, he saw something special in him, and now that Charlie is dead, he wants Tim to take care of Delia and Ned, so he's nudging Tim in the right direction - flowers, songs, even the motorcycle. Too bad Delia thinks it's creepy. Of course, it all works out in the end.

Even the secondary ghost in this episode - a guy without any pants - gets to go to the light when Melinda finds an engagement ring in a pair pants in her shop and sends it to the woman that he wanted to marry, but never got a chance to ask. The address? Some street in "Grandview". No state, no zip. Dang.
