The Riches Recap: The Big Floss
Doug starts things off in a strange way (even stranger than normal) by having a dream. A nightmare, really, where his chest is pierced and he starts to die... only to wake up in the nick of time, next to his darling wife, safe and sound in his bed. Well, it's not really his bed. But you know what I mean.
He goes outside and sits on the curb, then falls asleep until one of his Eden Falls neighbors comes by for his early morning run. He picks up the paper and heads back inside - but Ginny Danegan, who is watching from her truck, spots him. It looks like things are about to get interesting.
I'm sure things will get interesting, but not just yet.
First, Doug has to deal with his woman. Cherien threatens Doug by saying that she needs to get a job, and when Doug says that she has a job, that she is the housewife, you just know that it isn't over. Cherien just isn't the type to stay at home doing nothing. Not that I'm saying that's all that housewives do, mind you.
At school, DiDi is dating a buffer boy named Eric, and Cael doesn't approve - to say the least. Then again, Cael doesn't approve of much. But in this case, he thinks that DiDi is selling herself short - or at least, giving herself away short, because he doesn't seem to think that DiDi is really selling herself. He might actually approve of that.
Meanwhile, Cael is entering into a new business at school. The young entrepreneur has determined that the fake IDs at the school are really bad (he determined this when he was offered one), and so he has made it his mission in life to help provide good ones - for a small fee, of course. You have to love this kid.
Cherien, who is not content to sit at home, gets herself all dolled up and takes Doug lunch, like a good wife should. She probably needs to work on her packing skills, however, because she basically throws a bunch of stuff into a bag, including a package of prepackaged jello and a box of pop-tarts. But it does get her a look from Hugh - I think something is happening here. I'm not saying Cherien would stray, but Hugh certainly would. Look for it.
Done stirring up trouble at Panco, Cherien goes to the dentist where she had an appointment, so that she doesn't arouse suspicion, only to find out that it wasn't for a cleaning - it was for a job! So she manages to fake her way through the interview, and before you know it, she's a dental hygienist, and she's made a connection with the dentist, who seems like a nice guy. Unfortunately he just hired an addict, who steals drugs from him before long. It's tough to say if he knows what is going on or not, but before long he ends up dead, so it doesn't matter much. It'll be interesting to see if his drugs are inventoried and/or if he gets blamed for the missing ones (or if they just drop it).
Back at work, Doug's meeting with a client gets moved up, so he has to bring in Aubrey, for help, but when she isn't helping, the jogger neighbor who found him asleep on the curb suggests that the local college likes to have guest lecturers, and Doug gets the students to solve his case for him - in return he gives them cookies. I love this guy.
Meanwhile, Ginny shows up on the doorstep and blackmails the Riches by telling them that she will expose them if they don't take in her brother Ken - and perhaps more importantly, let him marry DiDi. Needless to say, DiDi isn't too happy about this development.
