My Name is Earl Recap: Harassed a Reporter
One morning as Earl can't sleep, he turns on the television and karma hits him square on the head, because Nicole Moses is on the 4am news giving the traffic report. Of course, at 4am in Camden County, there isn't any traffic, but that's not the point - the point is that Earl (with a little help from Randy) made her life so miserable as a reporter, that now the only job she can do is the 4am news, which is to say that there isn't much to it.
About the only thing worse than the 4am traffic report is the crop report, which involves a sock puppet. She does that too. So Earl sets about trying to make up for all the difficulties that he and Randy caused Nicole. But as usual, fixing problems isn't always as easy as causing them in the first place.
Generally Earl tries to do something that offsets the damage that he did. But in this case, what he and Randy would do would be to mess up the broadcasts that Nicole did - he and Randy would do Crazy Arms (where he would act as Randy's arms, or vice versa), or one of them would dress up like a bear - basically make her look like an idiot while she was trying to do a story. So the best thing to do is to help her do a good story.
Naturally Earl has the inside track on a special interest story - the list. So he goes to her and tells her how he has been working on the list and how it may help her get off the 4am newscast. Reluctantly, she agrees - mostly it's to get Randy to stop playing with the blue screen, because when he takes off his jacket, and he's wearing a blue shirt, it scares him.
Along the way, Randy thinks that they are still supposed to be harassing her, and that means that she screws up all the stories that don't screw up themselves - like when Nicole finds out that the people on the list aren't exactly high society (like the prostitute), and that leaves her without a story, and Randy feeling like he has been left out.
Randy goes out and gets a sombrero (for no reason that anyone can tell) and starts breaking things. He hopes this will get him some attention. Meanwhile, Nicole puts together her own story, about how Earl helps someone very special - Randy. Only she makes it seem like he is mentally challenged.
At first, this makes Randy upset. But then he realizes that he gets attention from people, and this makes him think that even karma is paying him attention, so he doesn't mind so much.
