The Riches Recap: Reckless Gardening

As if DiDi didn't have enough problems in her life with having to put up with her brothers, now she has another problem: She doesn't really want to marry Ken. It would be bad enough if her parents had found someone remotely likable, but Ken is a moron, as evidenced by the day that he spends apprenticin' with Doug. He can't even get through a few minutes without trying to steal a stapler or calling him Wayne or Mr. Malloy instead of Mr. Rich.

Doug has his own problems, as in he's trying to figure out how to keep Hugh from figuring out that he's not exactly a lawyer, which is complicated by the fact that there's a lawsuit that just won't go away. It seems that Hartley Underwood, loving neighbor of the Riches, just wants money out of Panco because an alligator ate her arm. I'm not exactly sure how that works out, but apparently Hugh built the development in the wrong place or something, so now it's Doug's problem.

To his credit, Doug deals with it pretty well, and at least for the time being, gets the problem to go away - mostly because Aubrey finds that Hartley changed her name after getting caught for shoplifting. Shoplifting sex toys. Nice.

Naturally, that just gives him more time to try and figure out what to do with Ken, who is bound to cause all sorts of issues if he can't get things figured out at work. It could blow everything. Odd that he's a Traveler and can't even get the basics down. He can't even work the stapler!

Making matters worse is the fact that Hugh has a thing for Cherien, but to her credit, she is a strong woman who can stand up for herself. In fact, it seems like she would make a lot better lawyer than Doug would. She's certainly made a much larger transformation since they picked her up outside the prison in the first episode. You can almost believe that she's a bored housewife. She even goes to get DiDi out of jail.

Sociopath Dale picks up his father and carries him out to the woods to die. That's a scary man there. Apparently he wants to run things so badly that he'll kill his own old man to do it. Spooky.
