Jericho Recap: Casus Belli
Roughly translated as "incident of war" (and no, I didn't know it, I had to look it up), it sounds like things are getting ready to get going. A crowd of beat-up vehicles comes in from New Bern, delivering the men that were sent to help build them, and at first, Casus Belli doesn't make sense. Until it's apparent that Eric isn't among the people returning, at which point it starts to make sense.
When Heather is nowhere to be found, either Eric is getting busy, meaning Mary is going on a rampage - one possible translation - or New Bern has been a little explainin' to do. My guess is that New Bern is getting a little big for their britches, but it would actually be interesting if Eric had some interesting character development, so I'm holding out for the first option.
We do get to see that Stanley comes home to Mimi, which doesn't really amount to much, other than he isn't happy about his baby sister shacking up with her boyfriend, but Mimi explains how teenagers are these days, and then everything is happy again at the Richmond homestead and we can get back to the action.
The action at the bar, that is. You see, the mayor goes to talk to Mary, since his wife has done such a bang-up job of it so far. They end up drinking a few and talking about how Eric is a lightweight and gets drunk so easily. Good times. Then we get to get to the real action: GI Jake gets his buddy Hawkins and they form a two-man wrecking crew to raid New Bern.
Of course, they do this really well, and before you know it they are able to go just about anywhere they want, and they even get started on torturing someone with kitchen implements (Hawkins is one bad mother), but then suddenly Jake gets thrown into jail for his snooping and it looks like the fun is at an end. Unfortunately for the New Bernies, they forgot about - or didn't realize - that Hawkins was on the loose, and his sniper talents manage to cause plenty of disruption, and Jake meets up with Eric in jail, only to find out that Heather is - gasp - dead! Say it isn't so! We'll have to wait to find out, though.
