Jericho Recap: One If By Land
We come back to New Bern find that Eric and Jake are still in jail. Even the mighty Hawkins has to go through some processes that the rest of us do - he can't just will them out of jail. Not yet, anyway. I suspect he'll be working on that power for next season, if it ever happens.
But what he can is team up with Maggie, the young lass who we met back in Semper Fidelis. It seems that she ended up in New Bern after getting kicked out of Jericho. Or maybe she was just trying to figure out a way to steal her tank back. But regardless, she's there, and trying to get into Jake's good graces, so she helps Hawkins. As if he needs help.
They go on a rampage - which is to say that Hawkins kills about everyone - and he then kills a truck driver and runs the truck into the factory, where it explodes with a very satisfying, well, explosion. By then, Jake's dad has made it into New Bern and he helps the boys escape - even Eric. You'd think that someone from Jericho could have died in the explosion (and that it would have been Eric), but alas, they all get out okay and they hoof it back to Jericho, drinking some of Hawkins' secret stash on the way.
Will that man ever cease to amaze? It's the end of the world as we know it and he has real, honest-to-goodness alcohol. Or maybe it was moonshine that he brewed himself, but it sure seemed real, and it's Hawkins, so I bet it was good.
Back in Jericho, meanwhile, plenty of action is going on at the salt mine, which means that no much is really happening - some minor activity is brewing and Skylar twists an ankle or something, then we get to see that her little hobbit boyfriend is really just a shell of pure evil hatred, but that's about it for this week. Next week, it looks like the war is really going to heat up.
