When Jake and Hawkins get back from New Bern, they aren’t the only things that come from that lovely place down the road. No, there’s another present in the form of a walkie-talkie, and Phil Constantino sends the residents of Jericho a lovely message from said walkie: Give up some farms or proceed to die. Actually, he says “or else”, and that means that they have an hour to decide to surrender the farms. If they don’t, they will surely suffer the consequences. To make matters worse, one of the farms he wants is the Richmond farm. I don’t think Stanley likes this idea.
Gray, sensing this unease about giving up his farm, sends Stanley out with the rangers to take out the mortar truck. About a minute later, Pop Greene comes in, telling Gray – again – that he’s doing a bad job, and not long after that, Stanley returns, bloodied from a battle. At least Stanley didn’t die, as he’s one of the good Jerichoians. Or whatever they call themselves. Maybe Gray will die when he surrenders, because that’s just what he’s about to do.
Luckily, there are other residents of Jericho who aren’t quite ready to lie down and take it from New Bern. Jake and Hawkins decide to take out a supply truck on their own. They get a hand from Jonah, who should probably run for mayor, because he certainly couldn’t do a worse job than Gray, and he definitely has the firepower to win in a fight if he had to do so. Since Jake has the inside track, what with his not-so-secret dalliance with Emily, he manages to get Jonah to agree to help them out. They convince Gray to keep Phil on the phone while they plan the attack.
It looks like Jake, Hawkins and Jonah take out the majority of the New Bern army all by themselves, but there had to be at least a couple of other people there, right? Didn’t there? At the end of the “battle”, Jonah takes out a guy from New Bern, just because he seems to want to watch him die, and that actually makes everyone remember that maybe Jonah isn’t a nice guy after all. To make matters even worse, he takes the supplies. I mean killing the enemy is one thing, but then he takes the supplies? That’s just too much. Come on, Jonah! You can kill the other guys all you want, but leave the gas!
When Phil gets word of the defeat, he announces that the war is on. I mean really on. So apparently he has some serious weaponry that he’s been keeping in reserve. That’s a scary thought, because they had a pretty amazing war machine cranked up in this episode. The finale promises to be something pretty sweet.
