Lost Recap: The Brig
After watching D.O.C. last week, it probably raises more questions than it answers. All along, the producers have said that the survivors aren't dead. If they aren't dead, then why in the world does our new visitor who parachuted to the island - and the world at large - think that everone is dead from the crash of the plane? You could argue that the limbo theory is a cop-out, but at least it would give a bit of closure to the storyline. At this point, just getting some answers would be nice.
Regardless, now that we have a visitor to the island, the hunting party has decided that they need some help. The natural choice for help would be, of course, Jack. But since he's making nice with Juliet, for whatever reason, Jack is now out of the running as a possible solution. Next up as problem-solver is Sayid. That's a good choice, because Sayid can do a lot of things, and he also doesn't take much crap. So he throws around his charm, and promptly gets the newcomer to not like him much. That doesn't help, but he does get the satellite phone to work. Somewhat.
Over on the other side of the island, the only other person who might have been handy in this situation (though he couldn't have done much with the phone) is Sawyer. Unfortunately, Locke has other plans for him. Because The Others seem to think that Locke is their savior, and because apparently you have to kill someone in order to attain that status, and also because Locke doesn't want to do the killing himself, he's asked Sawyer to help out. Actually, that's not true - he's lied to Sawyer to get him over to the Black Rock, where there is a visitor to the island.
The visitor, of course, is Locke's father, who was brought to the island in The Man from Tallahassee. We still don't really know how he got here, but he's here now, and though John doesn't like him much, he just can't seem to kill him. We do get a good flashback on Johnny boy, and see him fall out of the window after his father pushed him to keep him from turning him in, and that appears that it will wrap up what we need to know of his past, anyway, since it was the action that put him in the wheelchair. Yet Locke still can't kill him. Go figure.
Locke thinks that Sawyer will be able to do the deed once he reads a file, however. Said file came from Richard, who appears to have his own reasons for helping Locke, which is another one of those questions that we can't seem to get answered. Nonetheless, that about catches us up.
When Sawyer is brought into the Black Rock, where Locke's pop is hanging out, and then finds out that Locke's father is in fact the man from whom he took his name those many years ago, for the atrocities commited against his family, the leap to killing him isn't a long one. Problem solved. One problem, anyway. Now about that strange woman who parachuted onto the island, but I guess that will work itself out eventually. In the meantime, Locke tells Sawyer that Juliet is a mole, and in three days, Ben is sending some peeps over to pick up some women from the camp, so they should be ready. Then Locke takes his father's body and heads off to find Ben and all of The Others, since he can pretend like he did the killing. Strange guy, that Locke.
