The Top 4 show saw LaKisha Jones go home last week. Quite frankly, it could have been just about anyone, because the contestants singing songs by Barry Gibb were all pretty bad. We can hope that they get better this week.
As is typical, the final three get to sing three songs – one chosen by the judges, one by the producers and one by themselves. That means we could see just about anything.
Melinda Doolittle:
I Believe in You and Me by Whitney Houston
Nutbush City Limits by Ike & Tina Turner
I’m a Woman by Peggy Lee
Blake Lewis:
Roxanne by The Police
This Love by Maroon 5
When I Get You Alone by Robin Thicke
Jordin Sparks:
Wishing on a Star by Rose Royce
She Works Hard for the Money by Donna Summer
I (Who Have Nothing) by Ben E. King
Now we are getting down to it. And really, do Melinda and Blake think they have a chance against porn-named Jordin?
Listen, it isn’t that I like Jordin all that much, because if you look back over the last few weeks, you can see that I don’t think that she is the best singer. There are times (probably several) that I have mentioned as much. But though I like Blake, and believe he is supremely talented, I don’t think there is any way he will possibly win this competition. Melinda? Maybe a bit more, but Jordin is the one to beat here.
Unfortunately, I think that for once in my life I actually represent the people, and no one really cares much who wins, because this is not going to be all that interesting, no matter who wins. Maybe they can go on tour with Taylor.
Just for the record, I think it will probably be Melinda and Jordin next week in the finale.
Update: Missed that one. Congratulations, Blake. You have an insane amount of talent, maybe you can pull it off against Jordin.
